Relationship Survey
A relationship survey measures how a customer feels about a brand as a whole, rather than about one specific interaction. It’s typically run periodically — quarterly, biannually, or annually — and often includes the core NPS question alongside a handful of follow-up questions to understand the drivers behind the score.
Relationship surveys give a longer-term view of customer loyalty and brand health, complementing the in-the-moment view that transactional surveys provide.
Relationship vs Transactional Surveys
Relationship surveys answer “how loyal are our customers to us overall?” Transactional surveys answer “how did that specific interaction go?” Both are necessary — relationship surveys without transactional data miss the day-to-day moments that build or erode loyalty, and transactional data without relationship surveys misses the bigger picture.
