Customer Journey Map
A customer journey map is a visual representation of every interaction a customer has with a brand, from initial awareness through to purchase, use, and ongoing relationship. It typically lays out stages (such as Awareness, Consideration, Purchase, Onboarding, and Support), the touchpoints within each stage, and the customer’s emotions, expectations, and pain points at each step.
Why Journey Mapping Matters for CX Programmes
You can’t measure what you haven’t mapped. A journey map gives a CX team a structured view of where to place feedback touchpoints, which moments matter most to customers, and where friction is most likely to occur. Without one, CX measurement tends to be scattered and reactive rather than deliberate.
Journey Mapping in an Indian Enterprise Context
Customer journeys in India often span multiple channels in a single relationship — a customer might discover a brand on Instagram, research on a website, purchase in a physical store, and seek support over WhatsApp. A journey map needs to reflect this multi-channel reality rather than assuming a single linear path.
